NEED A DOG BEHAVIOURIST?

Need help with your dog and their behavioural struggles?
See our tiered programmes at the bottom to ensure ongoing support for both you and your dog
Cannot understand your dog's behaviour?
Our programme are very much recommended over one-off sessions; this is because often how your dog may be feeling is very complex and not something that I feel comfortable changing in just a 60 minute session. No one can turn around a dog in under an hour without using some sort of punishment-based methods; this is something that I don't agree with using because their are kinder ways to help a dog without needing to suppress unwanted behaviours. So whilst you may find it can be tempting to take shortcuts, these rarely work in the long run.
Quick fixes don't truly exist
I would only want to take on dog guardians who show commitment to receiving ongoing support. Rarely from one session will your dog be helped long-term because the first session allows me to assess your dog and understand why they may be acting this way. Some cases would require additional in person coaching to achieve lasting results. But there is nothing I find more reinforcing than seeing happy guardians and happy dogs.

Pain can mean changes to your dog's behaviour

Did you know that up to 80% of behaviour cases are related to the dog being in some sort of pain? Very often pain or discomfort is overlooked; whilst we can look to help your dog through a behaviour modification plan, if they have a underlying medical issue contributing to how they're acting, we need to ensure this is under control too. Behaviour modification is extremely hard to achieve completely IF the dog is in pain and it isn't being managed or helped. Whilst a vet may say your dog 'looks fine and healthy' remember they're only seeing your possibly nervous or over-excited dog for several minutes; it can therefore be hard to make a accurate examination.

If your dog has very complex problems i.e. reactivity or multiple behavioural struggles, then the fox programme will generally not be enough sessions to help your dog. You would need to consider our super or ultimate fox programmes.

Vet referrals

My vet referral form can be found here if you wish to refer a client of your practice to me. If the dog's behaviour has changed recently, then a vet visit would be required first before seeing me. Sometimes after an assessment, I may recommend pharmacological intervention but this is on a case by case basis and we look at different factors such as dog's current quality of life, how long they've been exhibited the unwanted behaviour etc. You would need to contact your vet to discuss and they're more than happy to speak to me if needed.

Insurance claims

I have had many clients claim my fees through their pet insurance. Most insurance companies though do require that the dog has been referred to us by their vet. It is recommended that guardians speak with their insurance company to see if fees can be claimed under 'behaviour'. The client's vet would be required to sign a form so that the guardian may claim back fees.
